Frequently asked questions

Are my files uploaded?

No. Files are processed in your browser and are not sent to our servers. Some tools load a library from a CDN, but that download does not include your files.

Do the tools work offline?

Not reliably. Tools that use PDF libraries fetch them the first time, so you need a connection.

Why did my compressed PDF get bigger?

PDF Compress re-renders pages as images. That helps scans but can enlarge PDFs that were mostly text. Keep the original in that case.

Can I search text in a compressed PDF?

No. Compression turns pages into images, so text is no longer selectable.

Is there a file size limit?

There is no fixed limit, but very large files may be slow or fail on phones with limited memory.

Can you open password-protected PDFs?

No. Remove the password in the app that created the file first.

Is there an image-to-text (OCR) tool?

Not yet. OCR needs large language-data files we have not added, and we only list tools that work.

Does the ID resizer guarantee acceptance?

No. It only resizes and crops. Check the exact requirements of the office you are applying to.
